to Chester, a lovely little town not far from Delaware. The same day we had passed through 3 lovely little towns, the first of which bore the name Heyport, the 2^nd, Wilmington, a beautiful place embellished with beautiful buildings, also very near the Delaware River; the 3^rd was Brandenwein[261], a beautiful little town, also inhabited almost exclusively by Germans. The 4^th was Chester, next to which we made our camp and where a great number of inhabitants came to visit us.

biß Scheßter ein schönes Städtgen ohneweit von der Tellawar liegend. Selbigen Tag passierten wir 3 schöne kleine Städtgens mit Namens das erste Heyport das 2te Wilmington, ein sehr schönes Ort mit lauder schönen Gebäute gezieret, auch gantz nahe an dem Fluße Tellawar liegend ; das 3te ware Brandenwein auch ein schönes Städtgen, welches fast auch mit lauder Deutschen bewohnet ist. Das 4te ware Scheßter allwo wir gantz nahe das Lager schlugen, und hatten sehr vielen Besuch deren Einwohnern.

On the 1^st of September we set off again for 16 miles to Philadelphia, the capital of all of North America. The same day we passed through the small town of Tarby before coming close to Philadelphia. But first we had to cross the very beautiful Schuylkill Bridge, which crosses the river that also has intense traffic.

Den 1ten 7br brachen wir alda wiedrum auf 16 Meillen biß Philadelphia die Hauptstadt von gantz Nord- America. Wir passierten den selben Tag unterwegs ein Städtgen mit Namens Tarly und kamen gegen Philadelfia. Vorher aber mußten wir die Schuill- Kiel ein wunderliche schöne Brücke passieren, welche über den Fluß gehet, welcher auch schiffreich ist.

As soon as we had come near Philadelphia we stopped off at the hospital outside the city, where we had to put on white gaiters in order to march into town in the most orderly fashion, like the previous year, brigade after brigade, the artillery with the lit wicks in hand, as can be seen and heard in the following part.

Sobald wir gegen Philadelfia kammen, machten wir einen Halt vor der Stadt heraus beim Spithal allwo wir weiße Kammaschen anziehen mußten, und in gröster Propritet durch die Stadt zu marschieren als wir das Jahr zuvor brigadeweiß nebst der Artillery mit brennenden Lunden in der Hand wie folgentlich zu sehen und zu hören ist wie folgt.
