We stayed anchored there for a few days, until we were given the order to have our ship repaired, because it was very damaged and was no longer in any state to go out to sea again.

Wir blieben noch einige Täge alda geanckert, biß wir Befehl hatten unser Schiff zu reparieren zu lassen, weil es gantz verlassieret ware, und nicht mehr taugte eine Ausfahrt zu machen.

On the 9^th, we weighed the anchor to enter farther into the port, in a place where it was possible to comfortably do the work, we dragged the ship by the ropes because the passage was too narrow and there were already more than 120 ships, large and small, in the port.

Den 9ten fingen wir wiedrum an Ancker zu ziehen um weiter in den Hafen zu fahren auf einen Platz wo man nicht verhindert ware zu arbeiten, wir zogen unser Schiff an Stricken weil der Passasch zu eng ware, und schon über 120 Schiffe groß und klein im Hafen stunden.

Now we set about unloading the ship. First and foremost we had to go on land to find some accommodation; it was on the left of the port entrance, on a small hill from which the whole island could be seen, because it was almost entirely flat and had no hills taller than the one where we were. There we used sails to set up a few large tents so as to stay there.

Wir fingen jetzt an unser Schiff auszuladen. Wir aber mußten gleich aufs Land gehen zu loschieren linckerhand dem Haffen bey der Einfahrt auf einem kleinen Hügel, allwo man die gantze Insel über-sehen konte, weil sie fast gantz eben ware und keine höhere Berge hatte als der worauf wir waren. Wir schlugen alda etliche große Zelten von Seegel- Tücher gemacht auf um darinen zu loschieren.
