On the 9^th, we had westerly winds in our sails once again.

Den 9ten bekammen wir wiedrum Wind von westlicher Seite welcher alsdann fast gantz von hinten kame.

On the 10^th, good winds and superb weather, one could not hope for better; the same day we again came across many fish that were marvelous to behold.

Den 10ten guten Wind und herliches Wetter daß man es nicht besser wünschen konte, selbigen Tag traffen wir wiedrum sehr viele Fische an, welche wiedrum wunderbahr zu sehen waren.

On the 10^th, we had rough weather in the afternoon with a storm that rose around 2 o’clock in the afternoon and that lasted until the following day around 6 o’clock in the afternoon, then there was a lull until around midnight, then the winds picked up a little once again. During that storm, you should have seen the spectacle the monkeys made, as we had about forty of them on the ship. As soon as they sensed the storm and the pitching and tossing, they made such an uproar that we could not hear one another speak, and they died one after the other, so that half of them were lost, just like the parrots, which we had in large number. As soon as we arrived on the ocean, the weather became cooler, even though it was summer, but in this area the air is always cooler and the weather is stormier more often than elsewhere at sea.

Den 10ten nach Mittag bekamen wir etwas ungestümes Wetter, so daß wir biß gegen 2 Uhr nach Mittag ein Sturm vorhanden hatten, welcher ohngefähr tauerte biß den andern Tag nach Mittag gegen 6 Uhr, alsdan bekammen wir Kalm biß gegen Mitternacht, alsdan erhube sich der Wind wiedrum etwas. Wärend diesem Sturm solte nur jemand die Mannöver deren Affen die wir auf unsrem Schiffe gehabt gesehen haben, dan wir hatten deren etliche 40. Sobald sie den Sturm und das Hin-und-her-Gautschen verspiereten so verführeten sie ein solches Geschrey daß man seine eigen Wort nicht mehr hören konte, und auch angefangen von Tag zu Tag zu krepieren, so daß die Helfte davon zu Grund gegangen, wie auch die Pabegayen wovon wir auch viele hatten. Sobald wir auf das Oceanische Meer kamen, stellete sich die Vietrung etwas kiehl ein, ob es gleich wohl in Sommers Zeit ware, so bringen selbige Gegenden allezeit einen frischen Lufft mit sich und ebenfalls auch alle Zeit mehr stürmisch als sonsten auf der See.
