Therefore it was necessary to bring up the soup, once it was cooked, to the top of the hill, to be eaten. Bread was cooked on the hill, then brought down to the ship, to be brought up again at distribution time, and it was thus for all the things and other food supplies. Anyone who watched the comings and goings had to laugh in spite of himself. Because the best place to do everything was at the base of the hill, near the water.

Die Insel ist gantz blat und kahl. Auch ist auf der Insel nur ein Brunen dessenthalben man das Wasser kauffen muß. Dieser Brunen ist eine halbe Stund weit von der Stadt
