On the 5^th day after the shipwreck, they were found by a frigate and transferred to Puerto Cabello, both those who had stayed on the wreck and those who were on the uninhabited island[309].

Den 5ten Tag nach diesem Unglück wurden sie von einer Fregatte abgeholet und nach Porto-Lappello gebracht, sowohl die auf dem Schiffe als auch die auf der unbewohnten Insul.

On the 4^th, we had rather good weather and had arrived near the town! We even thought of entering it the next day, but during the night the wind became cooler and we sailed through the night, changing tacks 15 times to keep the wind, and by the way, we thought we had taken advantage of it, but when day broke and we looked for the town, we could not spot it; as we had moved about ten hours away from it; instead of moving forward we had gone backwards, and we thus thought that it would not be possible to reach that town and enter its port, because of that nasty counter wind that always blows in one direction.

Den 4ten hatten wir zimlich gut Wetter und die Höhe von der Stadt gewonnen ! so daß wir glaubten den andern Morgen hinein zu fahren, diese Nacht er-hube sich der Wind etwas stärcker, wir fuhren die gantze Nacht und machten über 15 mal Paravirrée um den Wind zu gewinnen, wir glaubten auch ein guten Vortheil zu machen, sobald es aber Tag ware und wir uns um die Stadt umsahen, so konten wir sie nicht mehr in Augenschein nehmen ; dann wir hatten sie auf 10 Stund weit verlohren, anstatt vorwärts seynd wir rückwärts gefahren, wir glaub-ten alda es wäre nicht mehr möglich diese Stadt zu erlangen und in den Hafen zu fahren, des bössen und contrairen Wind halben welcher alda fast allezeit von der nemlichen Seite kommt.
