um uns zu bekleiden biß auf das stille Meer ins warme Land, in die Gegend von Porto-Rico alda solten wir die Flotte wiedrum erwardten.

On the 28^th, we broke away from the flotilla in the midst of the storm.

Wir fuhren den 28ten von der Flotte ab bey völligen Sturm.

On the 29^th, we passed by Newport, a city in Roth-Eyland. The storm was still raging, so much so that we thought we would not see the New Year, as our distress was much too great, and we no longer had hope of it calming down the smallest bit.

Den 29ten passierten wir Nieport eine Stadt in Roth-Eyland. Der Sturm ware als noch das nemliche, daß wir nicht mehr glaubten das neue Jahr zu er-reigen, dan das Elend ware viel zu groß, und auch keine Hoffnung ware vorhanden, daß man nur das geringste Lindrung spühreten.

On the 30^th, the horizon was a little more favorable until noon, then the storm picked up once more, as strong as before, and the state of our ship worsened with each passing day, so that the pump worked without any respite. Every day the shipwrights were making makeshift repairs, but all was in vain. Because it was like during the destruction of Jerusalem.

Den 30ten zeigte sich der Horizont wiedrum etwas geneigter biß gegen Mittag als dann erhube sich der Sturm wiedrum so häfftich als zuvor, und unser Schiff wurde täglich schlechter und mehr verlassiert so daß die Wasserbombe keinen Augenblick mehr leer stehen durffte. Die Zimmerleuthe flickten täglich am Schiff aber alles halfe nichts. Dann es ware wie bey der Zerstöhrung Jerusalem.
